Join the Heart of the Celebration!

The Southampton 4th of July Parade is a cherished tradition built on community spirit, and it wouldn’t be possible without our incredible team of volunteers. From coordinating colorful floats to ensuring the safety of our spectators, our volunteers are the “engine” behind the largest parade on Long Island.
Whether you’re looking to give back to your town, earn community service hours, or simply want the best seat in the house for the festivities, there’s a place for you on our team.

Not at all! While many of our volunteers are locals, we welcome anyone who wants to help celebrate the holiday and support the community.

Shift times vary by role, but most volunteers are needed from 8:30 AM until approximately 1:00 PM. If you can only help for a portion of the morning, let us know and we’ll try to find a spot for you!

Yes! We are happy to sign off on community service forms for high school students. It’s a great way to give back while enjoying the holiday.

Volunteers should be at least 15 years old to work independently. Younger volunteers are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We will provide you with an official Parade Volunteer t-shirt. We recommend pairing it with comfortable shorts or pants and, most importantly, sturdy walking shoes!

The parade is a rain or shine event. If there is a delay or cancellation due to extreme weather, we will notify all volunteers via email and text alert by 7:00 AM on the morning of the 4th.

Why Volunteer?

We welcome a diverse range of entries to keep the parade exciting and engaging:
  • Be a Community Hero: Help us keep this 100+ year tradition alive and thriving.
  • Go Behind the Scenes: See exactly what it takes to orchestrate a massive public celebration.
  • Connect with Neighbors: Meet fellow residents and local business owners in a fun, high-energy environment.
  • Commemorative Gear: All volunteers receive an official parade t-shirt and refreshments to keep you fueled throughout the day.

How You Can Help

We have various roles available depending on your interests and availability:
  • Pace Setters & Marshals: Keep the parade moving smoothly along the route.
  • Check-in Assistants: Help participants find their positions at the start line.
  • Safety & Crowd Control: Assist in keeping the route clear and safe for families.
